Synopsis
Miles tries to make ends meet. Margo finds herself pulled into a dangerous situation.
Plot[]
Margo Madison, Artem and other civilians are transfered to a prison by the Soviet police. Margo learns that the police back Fyodor Korzhenko and are executing a coup d'état.
News of the coup breaks out around the world, as well as on Happy Valley. President Al Gore condemned the coup, and Roscosmos in Star City has gone radio silent. Svetlana Zakharova worries about her father, who hasn't sent a message lately. Danielle Poole orders that all Soviet personnel have bandwidth priority with communications in the mean time.
Aleida Rosales and Kelly Baldwin make pitches to Helios Aerospace and other private aerospace companies on their S.E.E.K.E.R. project. However, they are all shot down due to the companies having other priorities. In a last ditch effort, Aleida suggests they make a pitch to none other than Dev Ayesa.
Miles Dale continues to watch videos from his family. Amanda Dale reveals she has a lead on a new job she's considering, due to Miles' financial situation. Following this, Miles and Samantha Massey drown their sorrows at Ilya Breshov's bar. When Miles learns Ilya makes a substantial amount from his operation, he asks to be his assistent. Although Ilya isn't keen on the idea, when he learns Miles has a Green badge, getting access to restricted areas, he hires him for a trial run. Over time, Miles takes special orders from personnel on the upper decks of Happy Valley and Ilya is quickly impressed by Miles' sales capabilities. Miles begins to make more income.
Ed Baldwin and Svetlana undergo a training run for Ranger 1. However, Ed's hand begins to tremor and to hide the fact, he lets Svetlana control the docking procedure. After the training, Ed shows Svetlana his garden that he picked up from Kelly. When Svetlana complained about the pain she's been having since the Ranger 1 incident, he shows her his secret weed garden which he used to cope with his aches and pain. When Svetlana asked about it, Ed finally revealed his hand tremors.
Aleida and Kelly make their pitch to Dev, who surprisingly turned them down as the return of investment was an unknown. Kelly proceeded to call Dev out, as he use to be about discovery, and not profits. Dev then revealed he felt betrayed by Karen since, and believes everyone would backstab him.
Margo is taken into an interrogation room where she is asked by Lieutenant Stepan Gura about the card with the phone number given to her. Gunshots then broke out and Gura left the room again to check on the situation. Some time after, Soviet Colonel Vidor Kolikoff enters, brings Stepan Gura on his knees, and asks about the card himself. Gura said he called the number and was transferred to another individual who revealed "Margaret Reynolds" was a valuable asset. Kolikoff asked Margo who gave her the card and later reveals that the number led to the Counter Intelligence of the KGB, who support Korzhenko, before killing Lieutenant Gura. Vidor Kolikoff then tied Margo to chains and demanded to know more about the woman who gave her the card.
Miles tried to impress Ilya by improving the speed of the distilling process but inadvertently destorying the cooling coil instead. Though they anticipate a couple months at least before the operation could be back up, they learn a compatible cooling coil exists, though in the North Korean zone. Miles sets up a methane warning on the North Korean module, eventually convincing them to evacuate so he could "fix" the leak. As he takes their coil, he is caught by Lee Jung-Gil who initially believed Miles was planting a bug, but Miles comes clean. Lee agrees to stay quiet if he helps him with something in return.
In Moscow, Colonel Kolikoff continues to interrogate Margo, but is interupted by a General. After some discrete conversations, Kolikoff cuts Margo loose and covers her head with a burlap bag to transfer her to another location.
Kelly and Aleida return to the formers home, where they find Dev, who had a change of heart. Though instead of investing his own money, he pitches a hostile take over of Helios, having his loyalists sign over their shares to him. Aleida pays a visit to Bill Strausser, who is now wheelchair bound. The two argue about Aleida giving up her career, as well as their stance on Margo Madison before agreeing to sign over his shares of the company. At Helios, Dev interupts a board meeting. He reveals he is now a majority shareholder, making him the CEO once again. Dev proceeds to bar Richard Hilliard from the company and fires everyone who opposed his Mars ambitions.
Miles manages to fix the still, leading to Ilya welcoming him back into the fold. He also tells him he has a new customer for him. Lee enters the bar, Ilya asks if he wants anything smuggled, such as playboys and the usual list of items, Lee instead asks for his wife.
Margo arrives at her new location, where Irina Morozova reveals herself and apologized for the wait. She reveals that Mikhail Gorbachev and the military came to terms and Korzhenko is the new President of the Soviet Union. Irina also revaled that Korzhenko named her the new director of Roscosmos and offers Margo to work for her.
