Tatyana Volkova is an engineer for Roscosmos. She was part of the team of Kirill Semenov, who was her mentor.[1]
History[]
Tatyana works as an engineer at Roscosmos under Kirill Semenov working on the Kronos capturing mission. It is revealed by Margo Madison that Semenov delibrately excluded information from the report on the Kronos disaster, that showed that his team had made a conversion error when designing the anchor points for the asteroid, having not converted the customary units given to them by NASA to SI units.
While working on a calculation late at Star City, she helps Margo with a vending machine issue, before Margo helps her with the calculation, quickly solving it.
Newly installed Roscosmos director Irina Morozova has Semenov removed by the KGB in front of Tatyana and the rest of his team. Tatyana takes this hard, and is later found by Margo at the cafeteria crying at her table, Margo sits with her and Tatyana tells her what happened and how she and the others did nothing and that Semenov had been her mentor, Margo consoles her, while Tatyana does not know that it was Margo's actions that led to his arrest.[1]
Tatyana would later write the calculations for optimal intercept between Ranger and Goldilocks, sitting in on a meeting of Roscosmos, where her new boss Margo tables them and credits Tatyana for them.[2]
