Linus of Jamestown

The Linus of Jamestown was a title assigned to newbies on the lunar base Jamestown in the 80s.

History[]

At some point, a little tradition was established on the US Moon base assigning the title of "Linus of Jamestown" to astronauts that came to the base for the first time. The Linus received a special patch with the comic figure Linus Van Pelt^W from Peanuts^W on it. After the welcoming of the new arrivals by the station commander, the old Linus would pass the patch over to the next one by saying the words "I hereby christen thee the new Linus of Jamestown". It was then the old Linus' duty to inform the new arrivals about how everything works and give them a tour of the base.

In July 1983, the current Linus was Nick Corrado. When Tracy Stevens arrived, she became the new Linus of the station.^[1]

In late August, Moon Marine Charles Bernitz was taking over from Tracy.^[1]
