Kirill Semenov is an engineer and former team leader for Roscosmos.

History

On March 17, 2003, after the Kronos disaster, Semenov received Margo Madison when she visited the agency's headquarters to try to get an appointment with director Lenara Catiche to talk about what went wrong. He told her, that Catiche had no time for her right now, and that she should not come in unannounced again.

Months later, Semenov is in charge of the Soviet report about the disaster, that would later be handed to NASA. Semenov, as head of an engineering team that worked on the project, claims that the issue was with the American made thrusters of Ranger 1. In reality, the issue was a conversion error made by Semenov's team when designing the anchor points for the asteroid. This error was purposefully left out of the report by Semenov to save face, leading to the new director of Roscosmos, Irina Morozova, to dismiss him after it is revealed by Margo Madison. He is later taken away by the KGB in front of his team.
