Jonathan Gatos is an astronaut with NASA who served at the lunar base Jamestown in 1983.

History[]

Gatos was part of the Jamestown mission 91 and came to the base in September 1983 aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia, along with Gordo Stevens, Natalie Bishop, Mark Tremblay, and astronaut White.

He was at Jamestown when the base was attacked by the Soviets, after Moon Marines had shot two cosmonauts near an US claimed mining site. Before the assault started, Jonathan was working together with Natalie Bishop in the main control room of Jamestown. Beside the two, Steve Pomeranz and Cook were also in that room, when Pomeranz unexpectedly noticed a cosmonaut standing outside the base. While he was wondering what he was doing out there, the cosmonaut started shooting at the window Pomeranz was observing him through. When the window broke after several shots, the pressure inside the room lowered rapidly.[1]

While Bishop, Cook, and Pomeranz were able to escape and close the door behind them, Gatos was struck by some equipment and subsequently blown out of the now broken window, dying on the lunar surface from the lack of air and pressure.[1]
