James Earl Carter Jr. is an American politician serving as a United States senator from Georgia since 1981. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as the 76th Governor of Georgia.
When the Soviet Union admitted having shot down Korean Airlines Flight 007, Senator Carter condemned the Soviet Union for their actions.
