Jimmy Carter, full name James Earl Carter Jr., is an American politician who served as a United States senator from Georgia since 1981. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as the 76th Governor of Georgia.

History

In September 1983, when the Soviet Union admitted having shot down Korean Air Lines Flight 007, Senator Carter condemned the Soviet Union for their actions.
