The Helios Mars base was the base of private Mars race competitor Helios Aerospace on Mars in 1995. It was located close to the Happy Valley base of the combined US/Soviet missions in the canyon Melas Chasma in the Valles Marineris canyon system,[1] at the foot of Gagarin Ridge.[2] The base consisted of 2 big rovers used as mobile habitats, a landing pad for their landing module Popeye, used to transport personnel between the base and the mothership in orbit, and some other facilities.[3]
History[]
After a drilling disaster, which buried most of the former base's facilities including the MSAM and one of the HAB rovers, and the recovery of all still usable tech, all remaining crew members headed over to the Happy Valley base, which serves now as the only remaining real base on Mars.[4]
