Harrison "Harry" Liu is a character featured on For All Mankind. Liu was the first Asian American astronaut of NASA and Lunar module pilot of Apollo 19 and Apollo 24.
Liu was killed by the S-IVB of Apollo 24 when its J-2 engine ignited unexpectedly while he was performing an EVA to repair the stage. The acceleration of the stage caused his tether to unravel and swing him into the J-2's exhaust, incinerating him instantly. He is the first of only two astronauts known to have died in space, along with his fellow crewmate and Chief of the Astronaut Office Deke Slayton.
