Hank Poppen was a flight controller at NASA, working in the Mission Control Center of the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston, TX, during the 60s and early 70s.

Hank was the retrofire officer (RETRO) of the flight controller team, during the early manned Apollo flights, including Apollo 11. As RETRO, he was responsible for determination of retrofire times, abort plans, and to plan and monitor Trans Earth Injection (TEI) maneuvers.
