Userpage Policy

This is the For All Mankind Wiki's user page policy. It is part of this wiki's rules, policies & guidelines.

General

User pages, also called profile pages, are the personal space of each editor of this wiki. Everybody is free to design and put whatever they want on their user page, as long as it doesn't violate Fandom's terms of use or goes against any rules of this wiki, including this policy.

However, please keep in mind that this wiki (and Fandom in general) is not a free personal hosting site, web storage facility, or image repository. If you intend to use your user page or upload images solely for such purposes, they may be subject to deletion.

Purpose

A user profile provides some information about the user, their contributions, edits and post activity, their personal blog, and their message wall. It is a place where users can tell something about themselves and communicate with other users. It can also be used to keep notes, lists, links, drafts and other wiki and editing related stuff.

Access

You can access your user profile by clicking on your avatar in the top-right corner of the page and then on "View Profile", or via Special:MyPage. Only registered users have user profiles.

User space

Your user space that you can edit is inside the "About" tab on the lower section of your profile page. Simply click the "Edit" button beside this section and start editing. It can be edited like any other wiki page, using the same techniques like wikitext, templates, or parser functions.

Subpages

You can create subpages of your user profile. Just go to the subpage you want and create that page, e.g. User:<your_username>/Subpage

User images

You are allowed to upload a reasonable amount of images for personal use on your user page, as long as this is not overdone. Remember that your user space is not meant to become your image repository. If you upload more than a reasonable amount of images, you may be asked by an administrator to stop.
User images must be categorized into the category user images.
User images can be either personal photographs of yourself, your own work, or images published under a free licence.

Dos and Don'ts

Dos

Use your user page and subpages to:
- Tell something about yourself. For example, you can use the infobox template {{User infobox}}.
- Add userboxes. You can find a selection of userboxes in Category: Userbox templates, or create own userboxes using the templates {{Userbox}} and {{Userbox custom}}. Use {{Userboxes}} to place and arrange your userboxes on your user page.
  Note: Personal userbox templates have to be either stored inside the {{Userbox custom}} template, or on a subpage of your user space. Don't create personal userboxes in the template namespace.
- Maintain ToDo or other lists, notes, reminders, or a collection of useful links.
- Create drafts (usually on a subpage).
- Install a personal sandbox on a subpage.

Don'ts

Do not use your user page to:
- Solely collect images, as mentioned already.
- Spread political positions or bigoted cultural beliefs.
- Degrade other users or group of people based on gender, race, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, etc.
- Harrass any other users.
Don't come to this wiki to solely maintain a user page. If your user page edit count far exceeds your edits in the main namespace, something is wrong.
Do not edit other user's user page. It's their space. If you feel they are breaking some rule, contact an administrator.
