For All Mankind Wiki

This is the For All Mankind wiki's spoiler policy. It is part of this wiki's rules, policies & guidelines.

General

As a wiki, we want to cover everything of the Apple TV show For All Mankind in full detail. People should be aware that when they visit a show's wiki, they will be faced with spoilers of that show eventually. This is the nature of a wiki. It's almost impossible to keep a wiki spoiler-free.
Spoiler warnings on every other page can't solve this. People tend to overlook them, they are not displayed on mobile, and they generally clutter articles and break the design. They also don't help against spoilers in infoboxes, like death-dates or -signs.
Every visitor is informed about this at their first visit with a site notice saying:
This wiki contains spoilers for all released episodes

General spoiler rule

Once an episode is released on Apple TV, it is open to everybody worldwide to watch.
Therefore, spoilers from any released episode are always allowed on this wiki, on all kind of articles, except for the restrictions below.

Restrictions

Future spoilers

Note: "Future spoilers" refers to spoilers of episodes that have not been released yet.
  • Information from trailers, teasers, promotions, or news articles about any unreleased episodes or seasons, including images, are only allowed on production pages. Production pages include the main show article, the season articles, as well as all cast and crew articles.
  • No future spoilers of any kind should be used on in-universe articles before the respective episode was released.

Episode articles

  • Episode articles should not contain any spoilers of later episodes.
  • For example, if a character dies in episode 3, there should be nothing indicating this in any earlier episode article. This includes † signs behind names.

Spoiler warning template

There is a simple text-only spoiler warning template: {{Spoiler}}.
This template can be used during the time a new seasons is airing to warn about spoilers of that season on general articles, where visitors may not expect to stumble upon spoilers. Examples could be for spoilers from the current season on general articles like NASA, Spacecraft, or Soviet Union. There is no need to use it on any character articles or on articles about events of that season.
Pages with spoiler warnings are tracked in the category Articles with spoiler warnings.
All spoiler warnings should be removed from all pages a few months after the last episode of the new season has been released, as of the general spoiler rule above.

Use common sense

While spoilers are allowed after an episode is released as outlined above, there is also sometimes no need to overly spread some infos immediately.
For example, if a character dies, there is no reason to instantly edit every single past event article that lists this character to add the death sign. This can always be done some time later, when most people have already watched the new season. Generally, better wait with this until some months after the last episode has aired. Many people only start watching a new season after all episodes are available. However, it is correct to update that character's page right away and write about it on any event article associated with that death.
Especially concerning character deaths, which is one of the most spoilery things, there is generally no need to ever update old articles covering events of previous seasons only with that information. For example, all Apollo missions (beside one) are season 1 only events. Unless they died during that mission, there is no need to later edit any of these articles to indicate that someone in that article is not alive anymore. The article covers an event from a time when they were alive.

Discussion board

  • Avoid any spoilers in post titles.
  • If your post contains spoilers of unreleased episodes or seasons, mark the title with a prefix like [Spoiler] or [Spoiler S5].
