Usage

Placeholder images are used as default fallback in some templates, as examples in template documentations, or sometimes in article tables or infoboxes if there is no suitable image available yet.

Unknown person placeholders Note: For the "transparent" versions, the background of the graphic is half transparent (33% white). So these look different depending on the background, e.g. in dark or light mode, or if some other background color is defined where they are used. There are some examples at the end of this page.

Navigation gallery placeholder What is a navigation gallery? → Example Note: These were created for when there is no suitable image for a gallery item. However, the gallery template uses `Undefined astronaut.jpg` as default placeholder if no image is defined.
