For All Mankind Wiki

A lot of things on the For All Mankind Wiki are automated by templates. To work smoothly, some templates need to be updated whenever certain changes occur. Also, new categories have to be created with every new season or episode.

This article lists all those periodic tasks.
Note
Update instructions for the templates mentioned in this article can always be found on that specific template's documentation.

New seasons

Renewal

When a new season is confirmed, the data in {{Sinfo}} has to be updated (total seasons).
This file stores the current season, the total of confirmed seasons, the total of released episodes, and the current year in the show's timeline.

New season starts

On the day the first episode of a new season is released, the data in {{Sinfo}} has to be updated (current season, number of episodes, current year).

New year

Whenever the latest episode enters a new year, again the data in {{Sinfo}} has to be updated (current year).
Note: This does NOT include the timejump at the end of seasons.

New bonus videos

When the bonus video series for the new season (the news clips connecting the seasons) is released, the following templates need to be updated:
  • {{BVtitles}} (titles of the bonus-series and the episodes)
  • {{BVref}} (year-span of the bonus-series)
  • {{Screenshot BV}} (years covered in the new bonus-series)
  • {{Screenshot BV/sort}} (filenames of the bonus-year title-images)

Categories

A bunch of new categories have to be created (this can be done in advance).
Note
These categories need to have exactly these names (or name pattern), including capitalization. Many templates expect categories to follow a consistent naming pattern.
Info
For many season categories, there is a template that creates everything for the category page. For those, only the category page with that template in it has to be created.
For all others, it's best practice to copy/paste the content from the corresponding last season category in source mode, and then just change the season numbers.
In the list below, x stands for the new season number.

Other

As soon as the main cast for the new season is known, or at the latest before the new season starts, the database template {{MainCast}} needs to be updated with the new current main cast and the season numbers.

New episodes

When a new season starts and new episodes are released, the following templates need to be updated as soon as new info becomes known.
Part of this (like episode names) may be available some time before, others might only become public on the release day.
Template Info
{{Sinfo/fam}}
{{Sinfo/sc}}
This file needs to be updated with every new episode (total episodes) and if the current year in the show changes.
{{EpTitles/fam}}
{{EpTitles/sc}}
These files store all episode titles.
They are usually known before, so these files can probably be updated beforehand.
{{EpData/main/fam}}
{{EpData/main/sc}}
These files stores almost all other episode data.
This includes the episode image name, writers, directors, airdate, runtime, imdb code, tvmaze code, and the year(s) the episode plays in.
Most of the time, this needs to be updated with any new episode released (writers, directors, runtime, year(s)).
Some other data is usually kown before and can be filled in earler.
{{EpData/synopsis/fam}}
{{EpData/synopsis/sc}}
These store the episode synopsis.
Usually known one week before the next episode.
{{EpData/timeframe/fam}}
{{EpData/timeframe/sc}}
These files store the timeframes the episodes plays in.
This is not significant data and can be added anytime later. Might sometimes also not be clear immediately, or very vague.
{{AppearanceCount}} This database-template stores the appearance-count of most characters and their actors.
The data is used in the character's and actor's infoboxes (and perhaps on other places in the future) and should be updated when a new episode's cast-section is filled.
{{Tunefind link/sw}} This subtemplate of {{Tunefind link}} stores the data for the tunefind links on episode articles.
It may take some time after the episode aired for the website to update it.
{{Transcript link/sw}} This subtemplate of {{Transcript link}} stores the data for the transcript links on episode articles.
It may take some time after the episode aired for the website to update it.

New characters

Templates

Whenever either a new main character appears, or a previous main character is not part of the main cast anymore, some templates need to be updated.
Template Info
{{TagChars}} This template tags characters out of image filenames.
This has to be updated when a new main char occurs, or if new major side characters should be tagged.
{{TagChars/tag}} This is a helper template of "TagChars" and also needs to be updated if new main chars occur.
{{IsMainChar}} This template is used by other templates to determine if someone is a current or former main character.
This has to be updated when new main characters occur, OR when former main characters change status.
{{MainCast}} This template stores a list of all current and former lead actors. It's used to determine if someone is or was part of the main cast, and in which seasons. It has to be updated if new actors join the main cast or current ones change status, as well as with every new season.

Categories & galleries

If there is a new main character, or if a new side character is included in the tagging system, an image category has to be created.
Make a new category page named Images of <character-name> and put the template {{CharImgCat}} on it.
After the category exists, create a subpage named gallery (lower case!) of the characters article, e.g. Character Name/gallery, and place the template {{DPL character gallery}} on it.
