Apollo 20 was a spaceflight mission by NASA. The crew included astronauts Alan Bean, Thomas Mattingly, and Gerald Carr.

Notes[]

  • Apollo 20 happened between Oct. 1971 and Aug. 1974 during a time jump between episodes 1x05 and 1x06.
  • The only thing known about this mission is the misson patch with the astronaut's names.
  • Deke Slayton mentioned it after the Soviet Moon landing when he told the astronauts that training for Apollo 12 through 20 will continue as planned as long as there are no other decisions coming from top.[1]
  • None of the crew members appeared in the series.

Behind the scenes[]

Apollo 20 was supposed to land at Tycho Crater but was cut due to the Apollo 13 accident. Alan Bean was the LEM pilot for Apollo 12 and the fourth person to walk on the Moon, Gerald Carr was commander of Skylab 4, and Thomas Mattingly was on Apollo 16 in the OTL, and was supposed to be on Apollo 13. He was replaced by Jack Swigert because he was exposed to the measles by fellow astronaut Charlie Duke. To this day, he has never had the measles. It is unknown if Alan Bean flew on Apollo 12 in the show's timeline like he did in reality.
