Apollo 17 was a crewed spaceflight mission by NASA. The crew included astronauts Eugene Cernan, Ronald Evans and Gordo Stevens.
Notes[]
- Apollo 17 happened between Oct. 1971 and Aug. 1974 during a time jump between episodes 1x05 and 1x06.
- The only thing known about this mission is the mission patch with the astronaut's names.
- Deke Slayton mentioned the mission after the Soviet Moon landing when he told the astronauts that training for Apollo 12 through 20 will continue as planned as long as there are no other decisions coming from the top.[1]
- The astronauts Eugene Cernan and Ronald Evans did not appear in the series. Cernan was however mentioned by Ellen Wilson in episode 1x10.
- It is not known if Apollo 17 went to the Moon. From the mission patch, an orbital mission could be assumed. Therefore, also the rocket used is not known.
Behind the scenes[]
Show's vs. original mission patch
- The patch of this mission was similar to the patch of the real mission.
- In the OTL, Apollo 17 was the last Apollo mission and the crew was Eugene Cernan, Ronald Evans, and Harrison Schmitt.
- Schmitt was the first member of NASA's scientist-astronaut group to fly in space. As of today, he still is the only professional scientist to have flown beyond low Earth orbit and to visit the Moon.
