Alexei Arkhipovich Leonov is a Soviet cosmonaut. He became the first human to land on the Moon.
History[]
On March 18, 1965, he became the first human to conduct a spacewalk, exiting the capsule during the Voskhod 2 mission. His historic spacewalk lasted 12 minutes and 9 seconds. The original plan called for 10 minutes.
On June 26, 1969, Leonov landed on the Moon, becoming the first human to step foot on Earth's natural satellite.[1]

- In the original timeline, Leonov passed away in 2019.
- In the real world, Leonov was originally scheduled to command the first Soviet landing on the Moon, but constant delays brought on by repeat failures of the N1 rocket cancelled those plans and the program altogether.
