Alex Rossi is an astronaut at NASA and the commander of Jamestown during the second half of 1983.

History[]

Season 2[]

In 1983, Rossi was part of the Jamestown 86 mission. After the end of Ellen Wilson's forth Jamestown mission, Rossi became the new commander of the lunar station.[1]

Rossi welcomed Tracy Stevens when she arrived at the base as part of Jamestown 89. When after some time he found out about her drinking problem, he wanted to report her to Houston, but then decided to give her one last chance. However, he canceled all her privileges.[2]

Rossi was the Jamestown commander during the Jamestown crisis.[3] After Moon Marines had shot two Soviet cosmonauts near an US claimed mining site,[4] the Soviets attacked and occupied the American base.[5] Rossi was taken hostage and was beaten by the attackers, who wanted the surviving cosmonaut and later defector, Rolan Baranov, back into their custody. They offered an exchange, but the remaining marines did not believe that they would let Rossi alive if they agreed. After the success of Apollo-Soyuz and the famous handshake in space, political tensions dropped when President Reagan met with Soviet premier Andropov. Rossi was released and the cosmonauts left Jamestown. Rossi then found the dead bodies of Tracy and Gordo Stevens in the airlock.[6]

Season 3[]

In 1995, Rossi was still working at NASA in the Johnson Space Center. One day, he met Jimmy Stevens, who was visiting the center together with Sunny Hall, who wanted Jimmy to steal an astronaut badge. Jimmy wasn't ready for this on the first occasion, but then managed to take the badge of Alex.[7]
