I enjoyed it (and the series in general that I just binge watched over a week or so) but I thought the last episode was the most implausible.
Atomic spaceships: ok, a nuc can generate a lot of heat, but the advantage of a conventional rocket engine is that the fuel is also the reaction mass, what is being thrown out the back of the ship for thrust?
Sea dragon: adding the requirement of being immersed in salt water prior to launch seems ridiculous.
2nd nuc: a send reactor is added to Jamestown and no one on the crew notices?
Manufacture nuclear weapons on the moon: the 2nd nuc was to make plutonium to make weapons, but plutonium is among the most toxic substances known, and machining it to make a weapon is not easy, This seems very implausible.
Russia attack: In the time it takes for the Russians to fire, get into an airlock, cycle it, and enter the base, the crew could not get a message to Houston "we've been attacked"?
Sea Dragon destruction: during simulations the console shows a bright red box around the target, yet Ed targets the missiles at their own ship and no one notices. Also why does Ed maintain his macho attitude when he had decided not to fire on the Russians anyway?
The shooting: it seemed a bit unlikely to me that a trained marine would fire because the enemy MIGHT be reaching for a weapon. On the moon all your movements are necessary slowed down (otherwise you risk destabilizing yourself) so with a weapon trained on the enemy the natural reaction I would think (not being a soldier myself) would be to not fire until you saw a weapon-is thing being pulled from the case.
Plus there was a scene where they tell Ed "you are in orbit" but the image shows the engines still running (which means you are not in orbit).
Having the world at the brink of war and everyone backing down after seeing the feel good PR moment of the handshake seemed pretty silly (and obvious) but ok. Just goes to show its a lot easer for writers to get the story line into trouble then getting it out of trouble.
Still I enjoyed it and will watch season 3 for sure.
